Why do people ask question and not prepared for the answer?

Don't you hate it when someone ask you a question that they already know the answer? The funny thing is when you give them the truth they get made. Sometime they want you to take their side but if they are in the wrong why should you. You think to yourself "Why did you even ask me that question when you know I'm going to give the honest un-sugar coated truth if you like it on not?". Why must we sugar coat (some call it using tact) to answer someone. Why can't people except the truth, so you won't feel like I'm lying to you. In this day and time sometimes it's best you don't even answer the question due to some people can't handle the answer. So I ask again "Why do people ask question and not prepared for the answer?".
